North Watford parking survey results
27 April 2013
Green Councillors ensured your voice was heard regarding parking in the area after they asked Watford Council to undertake a parking survey following requests from residents and a local residents association. Over 850 responses from residents and the results are now being analysed.
- An initial look at the online responses indicate around 75% of people have requested the council undertake a formal legal consultation on permit parking.
- More than 75% have indicated they may support permit parking when the full consultation is undertaken.
Once the results have been analysed Green councillors will be meeting with officers to discuss the formal consultation and the council will be delivering a full questionnaire to households later in the year.
Green Party Councillor and County Council candidate Ian Brandon said: “Greens will be holding residents meetings across North Watford so residents have the opportunity to speak to the officers themselves and give their views on what they want to change to parking in North Watford. This will also enable those that did not respond to the original survey to still have their say”
20mph – may be coming to a street near you!
Greens ensured that residents’ views were heard regarding 20mph in their area. That’s why Regent Street, Cecil Street, Victoria Road and Judge Street this month will be made a 20mph zone. Further funding has been secured by County Councillor Ian Brandon for further studies into a 20mph limit in roads on the other side of Leavesden Road including Copsewood Road, Milton Street, Sussex Road and Brighton Road.
“Residents continue to ask me if they can have a 20mph limit in their road without speed humps. Currently the Conservative County Council are trying to make it difficult by having a low average speed for a 20mph limit to go ahead. I’m pushing for this to be changed but I’m doing what I can to get a 20mph limit in roads I think might meet the current criteria.”
